Is Tamil or Hindi more common in India AND bollywood movies? I want to go to India and I don't know which is more common, or which is more common in Bollywood movies. Because I really enjoy Bollywood. |
| Hindi is a lot more commone in India as well as Bollywood Movies. Tamil is also a completely different language than Hindi so if one person knows hindi it doesnt necessarily mean that they understand tamil (which is not the case with all indian languages because some sound very similar to hindi). Movies that are made in Tamil or Telugu are Tollywood, not as popular as Bollywood |

Why do some new movies in India still have the "old film" look? I was wondering how come some movies that are made in India look like they've been filmed with a camera from the 60's? Like for instance I recently saw 2 movies, one in Bengali and the other in Mayalayam, and both were made in the 2000's but the film quality looks like it's the 60's or 70's.... |
Yep there are 2 main reasons...
Firstly technical --
There are different modes of filming and film broadcasting at different frames per second..Also color & screen configs known as NTSC and PAL .. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL .. Generally with the increase in bit ratio filming the price increases as for filming the same scene if earlier only 1 reel is needed, now its 10 reels..
Cutting down the technicalities,
a way of cost saving is using the old scemes...Malayalam & Bengali are Not the Mainstream Indian Cinema (Indian cinema is known as Bollywood en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollywood , Malayalam & Bengali or Tamil etc are all regional/state cinema, so funding becomes a keypoint in these small scale cinemas)
Secondly cultural
Many movies are high buget, but they use the 'old screening method' to give the old look..say for example a darkish shappy quality video might give a very 60s/70s look and hide out common errors which would be noticable otherwise...also the movie style would give it a pre-modern look...
Most award winning regional movies with huge funding also have the 70s look because they wanna convey the ;old world feeling...
