1. "Men liked wrists and the back of the neck"? Doesn`t make sense... but the book was based around the time of World War 2 so ofcourse young Japanese people of this century `n men back then basically have different personalities `n characteristics.

2. If someone sexually harrasses you go ahead `n rip him into shreds if you want lol. Just better not, but just scream your lungs out at him just like every other Japanese girl `n report it to security `n get him charged. Besides for subways, they have a section for "women only."

3. Are you for real? Who told you that? This one made me laugh `n sry but it made me say "wtf." Anyways Japanese are all about gadgets like cellphones, MP3s, iPods, etc. so don`t gotta do any flipping off the building or anything lol.

Random thing you should know... when you eat in a restaurant, you do not have to tip the waitor or waitress. That`s just weird in Japan `n totally unnecessary.

How caan i get my mom to stop being so ignorant about me drawing/watching/reading anime/manga?
lets start off with want ive thought about doing

You do have one ******* problem, in your swearing that is not necessary or your need to.

Try watching "Ah! My Goddess" on Hulu when she's around, as it's hard to refer to the three Norse goddesses as asian, other than their having moved into a Japanese house. okay this is my question, should i get new friends? This past year has been very hard on me. I was having image problems with myself so i basically limited my self to one meal a day during December and sorta got into goth/emo stuff (metal music, depression, dark clothes and make-up, etc.) and i was getting along great with my best friend Myra. Unfortunately my grandma passed away in january, we were really close, and i still haven't recovered from that. Then came spring. during the spring i quit the emo **** i was in and i got into the anime scene (watching it, reading manga, reading Japanese magazines, filling notebooks with my own creations, etc.) i was also hanging out with my bff Simon a ton we became really close. Just recently was the last day of school. on that day my friends and i walked to a coffee shop close to the school, we decided to enter in the teen film festival at the library this summer. we were all had a lot of fun, but it was kinda awkward. When i got hom i had to pack for a vacation thing with the family. i went on the trip and wrote the script for the twilight parody we were planing. i sent it to Simon (my bff). my cousin convinced me to tell him i liked him (lets face it i do crazy **** when i'm with her), so i did and i kinda messed up our relationship up and i haven't talked to him since. when i got back i found out all of my friends have been going to the mall, going to movies, having parties, etc. all through out the year and haven't invited me, not once. (i now understand why they kept saying no when i was trying to make plans with them all year) now they have taken my twilight parody script and are filming it themselvs without me. i've realized my friends are ****, and i basically have none. so should i dump them and make new ones? or should i keep trying to be friends even though i keep getting rejected?

no one should be treated like that find others. but first talk to your other friends and see way they did that stuff. me and my friend are really in to the anime stuff to (she rocks at drawing it) find other friends that will treat you right and like the same things

Socializing with other demographics....?
So I am a White teen (19) in college right now. I really want to have a diverse group of friends but sometimes its very confusing as to the way people act around me. I have a few Spanish speaking friends that know I speak Spanish fluently and that I am interested in Spanish culture and music etc etc but will not speak Spanish with me at all. When they are together its Spansh then when the gringo talks it switches back to English.

No offense to any Oriental people but they seem to be the hardest group of people to make friends with. I have always been interested in the culture especially that of Japan and I have been studying Japanese on and off. SO its natural to want to meet some Japanese people and possibly make some new friends. All foreign Asians at my University refuse to acknowledge anybody unless they need help or have to talk to you to order food or something. I'm not making an irrational generalization either.

So what the hell is wrong? I'm not wearing any rebel flags on my shirt or saying all kinds of racist ****, I just want to have a diverse group of friends. I think it would be a strong group of friends to use cultural differences to come to a middle ground and see the similarities in each other rather than the differences. It's just so hard when the other groups push you away more than anything.

Any suggestions on how to move forward on this issue?

You should just focus on being yourself and making friends as they genuinely come, not trying to make friends to fulfill some multicultural agenda. I have friends of all races and cultures, but it wasn't because I sought that out. It just happened that way. And I have spanish-speaking friends who teach me Spanish from time to time.

EDIT-I'm speaking for my own personal experiences and I've been able to socialize and make friends with all races of people from Asian to Lebanese to Mexican. I guess it just depends. Most of my friends I have met while in social environments and it usually begins with an acknowledging nod and smile. From there, you chime in where you fit in. Some people you'll click with, others you want. Can't force it. I don't know how it is with younger people because I'm 32 and my friends are all around my age give or take. Perhaps, younger people are different. And thinking back, when I was younger, I didn't have too many friends who weren't black so I guess I see your point. In any event, good luck to you.
